Long-term care is for people who can no longer live independently and need ongoing nursing and personal support. It’s a permanent move to Rivervale rather than a stay, and residents become part of the day-to-day life of the home.
What’s Involved
Each long-term resident has an ensuite bedroom, single or twin. There are registered nurses on duty 24 hours a day and healthcare assistants helping with personal care, mobility, and daily routines. Care plans are written for each resident individually and adjusted as their needs change.
The home takes 43 residents, distributed across three wings off the central atrium. The scale matters: large enough to be properly staffed across every shift, small enough that staff actually know everyone.
Who It Suits
Long-term care is for people who can’t manage at home anymore. That can follow an illness, a gradual decline, or a decision by the person and their family that residential care is the right next step.
Dementia and palliative care can both be provided alongside long-term care. They’re not separate placements. They describe how care is delivered when those needs are present.
Fees
Long-term residential care is covered under the Fair Deal scheme for residents who qualify. For current weekly rates and any optional extras, get in touch directly.
