Rivervale takes residents on a short-term basis as well as long-term. Short stays cover two situations: planned respite breaks, and recovery after illness or a hospital admission.
Respite
A respite stay is a planned period at Rivervale, usually arranged in advance for an agreed length of time. It’s typically used to give a family carer space to rest, travel, or look after other things, while the person they care for is supported in a residential setting. Stays can be repeated.
Convalescent
Convalescent stays are for people who are recovering from an illness, surgery, or a hospital admission, and aren’t quite ready to go home yet. Residents get nursing care, personal support, and a settled environment for as long as the recovery takes.
What to Expect
Short-term residents get exactly the same standard of care as long-term residents. They have their own ensuite bedroom and use of all the shared rooms, meals, and activities for the whole stay. If palliative needs come up during a short stay, those are looked after as well.
Availability
Short-term availability depends on what’s free at the time. Contact us to check specific dates.
