The Home
Rivervale is a purpose-built, single-storey facility on the Old Birr Road, Nenagh. Opened in 2001, it was designed from the outset as a nursing home — not adapted from another use — and that intent shows in every aspect of the building.
A Home Arranged Around Light
At the heart of Rivervale is a central atrium. Rather than organising the building around a single corridor, the home radiates outward from this naturally lit space, which serves as a social and orientation anchor for residents throughout the day.
Three residential wings — each with its own character — extend from the atrium, providing a scale of living that feels manageable and personal rather than institutional.
Ensuite Accommodation
All 43 resident rooms are ensuite and single-occupancy. Rooms are furnished and decorated to a comfortable standard, and residents are encouraged to personalise their space with their own belongings.
Accessibility Throughout
The single-storey layout means no lifts, no stairs, and no barriers. Wide corridors, level thresholds, and consistent flooring throughout make navigation easy for residents with mobility aids, for wheelchair users, and for those who are simply more cautious on their feet.
Enclosed Gardens
Rivervale has enclosed, accessible garden areas that residents can reach directly from the home. The gardens provide outdoor space for sitting, walking, and seasonal activities in a secure setting.
Location
Rivervale is located on the Old Birr Road, Rathnaleen, approximately 2km from Nenagh town centre. The site is accessible by car, with ample parking on site.
